Mechanism of action
Learn about how Epitherapeutics used NGS to elucidate the mechanism of action of their drug
The Finnish Centre of Excellence in Biological Interactions had sequenced and assembled the genome of a non-model insect species. However, their publication of the genome still lacked reliable gene annotations.
Using annotated reference genomes of closely related organisms, core insect gene sequences, and gene predictions, we produced a preliminary annotation of the genome. This was then completed by applying homology analysis using several gene databases.
The research group was able to finalize the sequencing project by having an external team working on the time-consuming bioinformatics component of the project.
