Nicole Flack
Scientific Project Manager
Nicole is a dual-doctorate bioinformatician with a diverse background in veterinary medicine, molecular biology, and data analysis. After completing her undergraduate studies in biology, she earned both her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) and her PhD in functional genomics at the University of Minnesota.
During her time in academia, Nicole developed a passion for epigenetics and the potential of new sequencing technologies to improve human and animal health. She gained expertise in DNA methylation, transcriptomics, genome assembly, and long-read data analysis. Before joining the team at Genevia, she built pipelines for rapid zoonotic pathogen detection with portable Oxford Nanopore sequencing.
Nicole’s curiosity and love of problem-solving shaped her unique career path to bioinformatics. She enjoys learning new analysis and visualisation methods to maximise the scientific impact of each dataset.
In her time offline, Nicole enjoys hiking, reading, metal concerts, and singing karaoke.
