Problem
VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd. was working on the development of industrial yeasts. In order to reliably modify a yeast genome, they had to determine the copy numbers of all of its genes.
Solution
We developed a custom analysis pipeline to infer gene copy numbers from read fraction information. From this information we estimated the ploidy of each chromosomal segment.
Outcome
The ploidy information was successfully used to guide genomic modifications.
